2026 Audi A6 Avant Gets Reveal Date

You’ll want to get ahead of this one. On March 4, Audi will have us waggin’ our tails with excitement. The German automaker has just confirmed the date and time for the reveal of the latest version of one of its coolest models. The newest Audi A6 Avant (audio speak for wagon) is coming, so mark your calendar.

Audi’s New Wagon Arrives March 4

Audi will reveal the A6 Avant on March 4th at 2 PM. The company didn’t specify a time zone for that launch, but since Audi is based in Ingolstadt, Germany, it’s almost certainly Central European Time. Make that 8 AN on the US East Coast, and don’t get up for 5 AM on the West Coast.
Audi has been building big wagons since 1977. The first was built on the Audi 100 sedan, though it was more of a hatch at first. The model has lived on ever since, and has expanded to include the ultra-hot RS6 Avant superwagon.

This is the wagon version of the model we expected to be called the A7 Avant at launch. We’ll get back to that, but first, everything we know about the newest Audi longroof.
The latest large Audi will get an evolved version of the car’s old platform instead of a brand new one. But it will have new styling and a new electrical architecture to help modernize it.
Our spy photographers have captured the sedan version of the new model out for testing. The cabin is heavy on screens and low on buttons, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. The new styling adopts some of the cues we’ve seen on other recent Audis, including a protruding nose and the relocation of the Audi four rings higher up in the new grille shape.
Those intrepid photographers have also snapped the wagon, including the return of the Allroad. That’s the lifted and taller version meant for light off-roading.

If you’ve clicked through any of those articles linked above, you probably noticed that we called the new model the A7 and not the A6. Audi had planned to change all of its vehicle names. Electric models would get even numbers, making the latest A6 an EV. Gas-engine cars were to get odd numbers, so what was the gas A6 would now be the A7. The old A7, a Sportback hatch design, was to be incorporated in with the other now-named A7 models.

Then Audi changed its mind. Earlier this month, Audi changed the plan all over again. So the car that was the A6 and was to become the A7 is now the A6 again. This new Audi A6 Avant will be gas-powered. There might be an EV down the road, and if there is, it will be called the A6 Avant e-tron. Unless Audi changes its mind again.
