ABT Gives Audi’s RS Q8 Supercar Power In Exclusive Legacy Edition

The

Audi RS Q8
and the

Lamborghini Urus
are like a pair of siblings raised in different households. They share much of the same DNA (in their platform design), but one is understated and relatively mild-mannered while the other is brash and exotic. However, tuner ABT Sportsline is here to prove that the

RS Q8
can be made to match the Lamborghini’s loud attitude, giving the Audi

a sizable boost in performance and some ultra-luxe aesthetic refinements.

Giving The RS Q8 Urus-Beating Power

The RS Q8 you see before you is a preview of the ‘Legacy Edition’ set to arrive in March — something ABT says « combines uncompromising performance with exclusive individuality ». From a power standpoint, this means that output climbs from the 631 horsepower of a

stock RS Q8
all the way up to an astounding 760. Torque also gets a significant boost, with ABT improving the LE by some 100 lb-ft for a 727 lb-ft total. Only the

hybrid Urus SE
can match those numbers.

ABT, Audi, Lamborghini

While ABT doesn’t make any 0-60 mph claims for its RS Q8 Legacy Edition, we’d expect the

SUV to be pretty quick
based on how it stacks up against the competition. Moreover, it’s bound to sound fantastic — ABT ditched the stock exhaust in favor of a stainless steel four-pipe setup. It’s described as « adequate, » which, in our eyes, is probably a quaint understatement.

Both the Audi and the Lamborghini boast performance figures that would be written off as impossible in an SUV a few decades ago, but which is better?

And that’s not all; along with the increase in power, ABT also tweaked the RS Q8’s ride for performance. Being an

air suspension
model, this meant that ABT adjusted the adaptive dampening and electronic roll stabilization for more « stability, agility, and athletic performance ».

Of course, an SUV boasting these kinds of numbers demands an appearance befitting its performance. For this reason, ABT’s Legacy Edition transformation gives the otherwise

understated Audi
a bold body kit and plenty of carbon fiber. Along with a new front lip, skirts, and mirror caps, you’ll also find hood inserts, fender extensions, and an aerodynamically optimized rear wing. Rolling on a set of stealthy 23″ wheels, it makes for a menacing look in combination with the red accents in the rear diffuser.

Super SUV Vs Legit Supercar: Audi RS Q8 Drag Races An R8

CarWow just set out to find out which Audi is tops in the family as an RS Q8 and an R8 battle it out for drag-strip supremacy.

By contrast, the Audi’s interior remains somewhat reserved. Though ABT covered the steering wheel in Alcantara and added carbon fiber in places like the shift paddles, it’s overall quite subtle. There’s branding on the headrests, door sills, and floor matts; however, it doesn’t detract from the look. Most importantly, though — each LE gets a serialized number plate to show passengers just how special your

limited-production
RS really is.
Considering just 125 of these ABT legacy RS Q8s are slated to be built, buyers will be in exclusive company. The tuning package costs €95,900 (roughly $100,000) and that’s assuming you have a suitable Audi donor ready and waiting. If you’re buying one of these from the ground up, you’ll also have to factor in the RS Q8’s six-figure purchase price.
