The New Audi A6 Sedan Is A Smooth Operator

The all-new

Audi A6
is based on a new platform altogether. Still, it features plenty of familiar-enough styling cues and welcome updates that help it feel like a proper continuation of the A6 line. For starters, it’s similar in width to the prior generation, though slightly longer, with an overall length of 196.5 inches.
A few styling details help to differentiate this new A6 from the A6 E-Tron Audi gave a look at earlier this year. Subtle tweaks to the front end are immediately noticeable, particularly the A6’s move from the E-Tron’s headlights. The gas-powered A6 also has a slightly higher drag coefficient of 0.23 compared to the E-Tron’s 0.21.

Features We Didn’t Get In America

As usual, a lot of the new features are limited to the European market, with U.S. models foregoing them. That includes MHEV powertrain options. Along with that, U.S. models are to debut without the

and car-to-X communication. It’s not like the U.S. Audi A6 is a bland counterpart with all the fun stripped out of it. One warmly welcomed feature on all models is the presence of a true dual exhaust. Audi took notes on the fake tips that inspired a lot of criticism and outfitted this updated model with the real thing and, hopefully, a heck of a noise to go along with it.
